Quick update!

From Nast 7 comments

Hi! Hope everyone is doing well. I’ve been staying very busy lately. I guess it’s been a while since I wrote last. I got to go to the World Championships in London. It was so weird to be on the other side of things, and watching the competition from the stands… I don’t really think I liked it. But I was also able to do some pretty cool stuff while I was there. I wrote a blog for USA Today, did the interviews for Universal Sports & NBC, and also did a 4 series episode for AT&T Behind the Team.

Bringing 5 medals home, the girls did such a great job representing Team USA! I am very proud of them all. After Worlds, I went to the Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular which happened to be on my 20th Birthday. I was so happy to be able to spend it with some of my really great friends! Ashley Tisdale was the guest performer, she is so sweet and VERY talented. (It will air January 10 on NBC)

Next week I’m off to LA for a few days, then going to Moscow with my mom to visit our family. I’m really looking forward to spending some time with them. I hope you all have a safe and fun Thanksgiving!

XOXO~Nastia

P.S. I have some SUPER exciting stuff coming up, but I can’t tell you yet… But trust me, it’s worth the wait!

Jordan Pruitt & Alzheimer’s Association

Charities, From Nast 2 comments

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing wonderful… SO much going on right now, I will update you guys very soon on everything!!! But I did want to tell you guys about this right now…

My best friend, Jordan Pruitt, has turned me on to the Alzheimer’s Association charity walk. This is a very great charity that helps try to find a cure for the disease. Jordan and I really want to raise money for this awesome cause and her friends have started a team. This is the link to their team:
http://memorywalk09.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=302539&lis=1&kntae302539=9C74AA4FF0A14B4397B01C9DA7E9C8D1&team=3500005&tlteam=0

It would be amazing if you could donate. You can donate either under Jordan Pruitt or General Team Donations. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
Thanks SO much! This means a lot to me & Jordan :)

08.08.08

From Nast 12 comments

08.08.08….. Wow. As I sit here writing this blog I have chills, goose bumps & tears in my eyes. I can’t even think where to start. One thing I know is I will forever hold this moment in my heart. For the rest of my life.
I was contemplating writing this on August 15, the day I won the All-Around title, but then I thought to myself…. Yes, that day changed my life for FOREVER, but it was August 8, 2008 that defined my career. I had never been more proud to be part of Team USA and to be able to share these moment with 5 other AMAZING, talented, sweet, caring girls…. I could go on and on about them (but I’ll save that for another time!) We created such a special bond together that will last a lifetime.
Next I owe EVERYTHING to my parents, coaches, friends, and the other special people in my life
I can’t even express how much these people mean to me and what they have done for me. My parents, well not much explanation needed for that one! They have guided me and showed me the path to not only success, but happiness, which in my opinion is the most important part of life. I have always had a pure love and passion for the sport of gymnastics and that’s the only way it’s possible to achieve your dreams. They have been there through the thick and thin…. The struggles and the triumphs…. The tears of sadness and the tears of joy. I would not  be the person I am today without them. Thank you mom & dad.
Natalya, Evgeny, Sergei, Laurie, Natasha, Laurent and Cecile…. and all the other coaches and staff at WOGA. They have been there right behind me through my Olympic Journey…. Pushed me through the struggles and hugged me when I needed a hug! Thank you so much!
Evan, my agent who has made me believe that absolutely anything in this world is possible!!!!!!! From gymnastics, to modeling, to becoming a “business woman”, and to living a somewhat “normal” teenage life…. If I put my mind to it, impossible is NOTHING!
Our wonderful national team coordianter, Martha Karolyi. I don’t have enough words to thank her for leading our best team ever to Beijing. She always had faith in me, trusted me and pushed me when I needed to be pushed. I can’t imagine how much pressure, stress and emotions it takes to lead a team at the Olympic Games. She will will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. As I continue my career in the sport, she has been there every step of the way, and I am so honored to have her by my side.
Onto my best friends, Carly and Nina….. It was so amazing being able to watch Carly train and go on to win the All-Around Gold in Athens 5 years ago!!! It truly made me believe that I CAN do it too. My dreams all of sudden seemed SO realistic. Carly has supported me along the whole journey, been there for me when I was lost in the world of ,all the sudden being “well known”. We continue to be the best of friends and I know we forever will!!!!! No too many people have accomplished  the same thing we did, back-to-back!!!! :)
My other best friend, Nina…. Don’t even know where to start! She traveled with me to Beijing, was there every single step of the way. I don’t have enough words, or actions to thank her or repay her enough for how she has changed me life. Not only being there when I was getting my gold medal, or on the set of The Today Show, Access Hollywood, TRL, and all the other fun shows I did…. But also sitting through my 10 hour photo shoots, letting me cry to her over the phone, letting me sleep through the 15 hour flight from Beijing back home (without even trying to wake me up!!!!) She is a definition of a TRUE friend. I will love you forever & always Nin :)
Last put not least I would like to thank my fans! YOU guys have been awesome!!!!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for believing in me & for the continued support as I now proceed to start “Part 2 of my career” I have so many cool things in the works, that I know you all will be very excited about!!!! (A special announcement will be made on Tuesday!!!!!!)
I have made new goals & dreams for myself that I hope to achieve in the next three years of my journey to London :)
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and spend sometime with the people that make a difference in YOUR life. Thank you again for helping me achieve my dreams…..

Hey!

Hope you are all doing great. I thought it was about time for an update. First off all I would like to congratulate Shawn on winning DWTS!!!!! She did a great job & what a wonderful thing for the sport of gymnastics!

Can’t believe it has already been 9 months since the Olympics. Time certainly goes by so fast. I have been so busy lately doing so many great things. Modeling, photo shoots, charity events, and OF COURSE training! I am so excited to tell you guys that I FINALLY got a new floor routine :) Keeping it a secret for now, but I really hope you will like it! It’s time for me to start a new journey and second part to my career, so I needed a fresh start.

I got to coach in my first gymnastics clinic over the weekend at SIGS Gymnastics in New Albany, IN. I had a great time and it was so much fun sharing my knowledge that my dad has shared with me over the years! While I was there I also had a lunch with some very special kids from the “Make-A-Wish Foundation”.

I went to LA last week and had a few meetings and also got to spend a little time with some good friends. I have some really exciting things coming up, but I will fill you in a little later ;)

June 6th I am going to be the honorary chair for the Susan G Koman Race for the Cure in North Texas. Please register for this great cause if you live in the area! http://www.komennorthtexas.org/race.html

New floor routine + new leotards + summer heat = COMPETITION SEASON!!!!! This year will definitely not be easy, especially with all my travels, but I am truly excited to get back where I belong… on the competition floor! VISA Championships in DALLAS & Worlds in LONDON (same arena that the gymnastics will be in during 2012 Olympics!) BRING IT ON!!!

LA & Britney Spears!

From Nast 8 comments

Just wanted to write a quick update on what I’ve been up to since last time! I went to LA a few weeks ago for a photo shoot and was lucky enough to be there the same weekend as the Figure Skating World Championships! I got to meet a lot of the skaters back in December when we did the Progressive Gymnastics & Skating Show.

It was really nice to see some of them again and SO cool to watch Evan Lysacek skate his way to become WORLD CHAMPION!

I also got to spend some time with Miss.Val & the girls at UCLA. Caught up with old friends, which is always nice. Went to the Myspace office in LA too (very cool) I did an interview for Myspace Celebrity, so be on the lookout for that soon.

Sam & Shayla came down to Dallas to visit me for a few days over their Spring Break. We went to the Britney Spears/PCD concert, which was AMAZING! (Check out my new pictures I just posted on my myspace). Alicia was also here for one day, coincidentally, doing an appearance in Dallas. She came over and had dinner at my house one night and we also had Ivana over. It was a huge 2007 World Team reunion! Out of the 7 people on the team, 5 people were there! We sure did miss Bridget & Shawn though.

Training is going really well, getting back in the swing of things and i THINK I may have found my new music :) But I’m going to keep it a surprise until its all done.

Thank you ALL soooo much for you support! i love you guys with all my heart and really appreciate you!

Keep dreaming BIG,

XOXO~Nastia

Camp-GK-Utah!

From Nast 22 comments

Hi! Hope everyone is doing great, and starting to enjoy the beautiful Spring weather (hopefully!)

I keep thinking things will finally settle down, and I can have a more consistent, back to normal life. Boy am I wrong! I have been traveling a lot still, which don’t get me wrong, I love it! But the only bad thing is having to miss some training time. I try to make up for the days I miss, on Sundays, or at local gyms if I’m traveling.

I am back at camp today. I always love coming here and getting back into the “competitive” atmosphere :) It makes me feel like I’m 13 again… NOT almost 20… (How weird is that??) I’m looking for music for a new floor routine! I am very excited about that. I achieved my biggest dreams in Beijing, and now its time to start PART 2 of my career.

I’ve had a really fun time creating my line for GK Elite. A new collection is coming out soon, so keep an eye out for them! Let me know what you think ;-)

Last weekend I went to Utah to visit my best friend, Nina Kim. It was her “senior night”. I have been planning this visit for quite a while now, and surprised her by telling her two days before! I know it was a very special night for her, and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! Not to mention, she was there for me when I won the All-Around GOLD in Beijing!!! ( Did that really happen?!.. OK, sorry, still gets me every time i say that!) I had such a great time watching her compete, and having the best meet of her life! She scored her CAREER HIGH in the All-Around! I am so proud of her :) All the girls did a great job and won their last home meet of the season. It was so cool to be there in an arena with about 15,000 people. I will post some pictures soon.

Keep Dreaming BIG!

XOXO

Update!

From Nast 12 comments

Hey!! Hope everyone had a great holiday season! It’s so crazy it’s already February!

I have been so busy with training and traveling. I recently just came back from my first camp since the Olympics! It was so good to be back in the mix of things! it was great seeing all the girls, national staff members and Martha. I went to a GK photo shoot right after camp for my new line. It’s so much fun being able to design leos for the line :)

The WOGA Classic is coming this weekend! I hope everyone in the area will be able to come out and watch the elite session! Carly & I are also doing a charity luncheon that same afternoon!

I go to another camp that night right after the competition is over. I am so excited to be back in training and getting ready for this summer/fall.

I also started school at SMU this semester!!! I LOVE it! I am only taking two classes, but it’s a start! I am learning to manage my schedule with studying, training AND traveling. I am making new friends, and really enjoying classes! I went to the SMU Basketball game last weekend, and we won!!! Wahoo!

Got to drop the puck at the Dallas Stars hockey game, which I have to brag that Dallas won 10-2!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went with my parents, Uncle and a few family friends :)

The German National Team was at our gym for a training camp this past week. It was really good to get to know the girls, spend time with them and train together!

Last but not least, I am SO excited that the 2009 VISA Championships are going to be in DALLAS this August!!!!!!!! I have never competed in front of a home crowd (except the WOGA Classic) and I’m really looking forward to it!

Hope everyone is doing great! Check back soon for another update & pictures! Stay safe & DREAM BIG!

XOXO~ Nastia
